“If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal.”
Shriram Mantri, our ideological inspiration, was an embodiment of this philosophy of Einstein; Mantri Sir’s goal – education of the underprivileged.
Mantri Sir dedicated his life in making basic and skill-based education accessible to the underprivileged. He believed in balanced development of youth through academic and extra-curricular activities focused on social and cultural awareness. He is the vision behind USM and the guiding force in the founding of numerous institutions rooted in upliftment through education. Mantri Sir’s dedication to the cause, his perseverance in his pursuit and the humility he had in his accomplishments of nearly seven decades of public service; are a source of inspiration.
Mantri Sir’s bronze bust that stands at the entrance of Vidyanidhi, was spontaneously and voluntarily contributed by the many ex-students whose lives he has touched, as a testament to the love and respect, he has garnered from students, teachers and fellow contributors alike. The statue is a continued reminder of the love and care with which Mantri Sir nurtured this institute and the idea of education for all. His vision and principles shall continue to influence USM in all its future endeavors.
Mantri Sir, you will forever be our guiding beacon.
